The Pantry tab (fourth tab, bottom right) keeps track of what you have at home β€” how much, and when it expires. It quietly feeds back into your shopping: a "Running low" nudge on your list, an expiry warning before food goes to waste, and a one-tap way to log everything you just bought.

Four ways items get in

  1. 1
After a shop β€” finish a trip and the app asks "Add to pantry?". One tap logs everything you bought (more below).
  2. 2
By hand β€” tap + on the Pantry tab: name, brand, category, emoji, quantity & unit, expiry date, notes.
  3. 3
From a barcode scan β€” choose Add to Pantry (or both) when scanning. See the Barcode Scanner guide.
  4. 4
From a recipe β€” send ingredients to the Pantry instead of (or as well as) the list. See Recipes.

Tap any pantry item to edit it; swipe it left (or long-press) to delete.

Expiry dates, filters, and sorting

Each item can carry an expiry date, shown as a colour-coded chip β€” orange when it's getting close, red once it's past. The toolbar gives you:

  • Filters β€” All Β· Low stock Β· Expiring soon.
  • Sorting β€” Alphabetical, Time to expiry, or Getting low.
  • Search β€” by name or brand.
  • Collapsible categories β€” fold away the shelves you don't care about right now.

The "Add to pantry?" moment

When you tap Done after a shop, the app offers to log what you bought:

  1. 1
Add all β€” every basket item goes into the pantry with its quantity. If you already have milk in there, buying more tops up the existing entry rather than creating a duplicate.
  2. 2
Choose… β€” pick exactly which items to log. Items you already stock show their current pantry quantity next to the checkbox.
  3. 3
Skip β€” no pantry changes; the prompt is gone until your next shop.

Expiry dates aren't part of this quick flow β€” pop into the Pantry tab afterwards to add dates to the perishables you care about.

Nudges on your list β€” and a daily heads-up

The pantry watches itself so you don't have to. On the List screen you'll see a "Running low" chip when stock drops, and an expiry banner when something is about to go off (red if it already has). Tap either to jump to the Pantry; both can be dismissed for the session.

Want a daily summary instead of checking? Turn on Pantry low-stock & expiry alerts in Settings β†’ Pantry β€” one notification a day, only when there's something worth knowing.

Tune it to your household

  • Low-stock threshold (Settings β†’ Pantry) β€” how low a quantity gets before it counts as "running low". Default 1, adjustable 1–10.
  • Expiry warning window β€” how many days ahead the expiry warnings start. Default 3 days, adjustable 1–30.
