Help topics
Help Centre β€Ί Settings

Tap the βš™οΈ gear icon in the top bar of the List screen to open Settings. Everything is optional β€” the app works fine with its defaults β€” but this page walks the screen top to bottom so you know what every section does and where the deeper guides are.

Help and the intro

  • User Manual / Help β€” the very first row opens this Help Centre in your browser. (Hello!)
  • Show intro again β€” replays the 3-screen welcome tour, including the voice "try it" screen.

Shared lists

The Shared lists panel shows which list you're on and gives you the big sharing actions: create a shared list, Join a shared list with an 8-character code, or scan a QR code to join instantly.

Day to day you'll mostly share from the Lists sheet on the List screen instead β€” the full picture is in Lists & Sharing.

Appearance, text size, haptics, tips

  • Appearance β€” β˜€οΈ Light, πŸŒ™ Dark, or πŸ“± System (follows your phone's theme automatically).
  • Text size β€” make the whole app's text bigger or smaller, independent of your phone's setting.
  • Haptic Feedback β€” a small buzz when you tick an item off. Satisfying; off if you prefer.
  • Show helpful tips β€” the little paper notes that reveal features in context. They quieten down by themselves after a few dismissals; Reset Tips starts them fresh.

Voice

  • Voice recognition β€” Auto (the app picks the best engine) or Offline only (never uses the internet). Each mode shows an approximate "Internet used by voice" counter so you can see what voice actually costs you in data.
  • Offline speech packs (Android) β€” download your language for offline voice, watch progress, and jump to your phone's voice settings to manage packs. On iPhone, on-device speech is provided by iOS, so there's nothing to download.
  • Detect quantities from voice β€” when on, "2 kg potatoes" sets a quantity; when off, voice just adds the item.

Barcode scanner

One choice: where scanned items go by default β€” Always ask (the picker appears after every scan), Shopping list, Pantry, or Both. Full guide: Barcode Scanner.

Pantry

  • Low-stock threshold β€” how low a quantity gets before it counts as "running low" (1–10, default 1).
  • Expiry warning window β€” how many days ahead expiry warnings start (1–30, default 3).
  • Pantry low-stock & expiry alerts β€” an optional once-a-day notification, only when there's something worth knowing.

Full guide: Pantry.

Backup & Export

Opens its own screen: manual and automatic backups, restore, CSV export, and receipt-photo cleanup. It deserves its own guide β€” see Backup & Export.

Weekly Reminder

An optional weekly nudge to plan your next shop β€” pick a day and time (say, Saturday 10:00). The section shows the current schedule with Change schedule and Turn off buttons, or Turn on reminder when it's off.

Privacy, feedback, and your data

  • Privacy Policy β€” opens the full policy in your browser. Short version: your data stays on your phone.
  • Send Feedback β€” opens an email to the developer, pre-filled with your app version and device model so you don't have to describe them.
  • Delete My Data β€” permanently wipes everything: lists, history, pantry, custom items, settings, and receipt photos. A strong warning comes first; it cannot be undone.
⚠️
Back up first

Planning to delete and start over? Create a backup first β€” once deleted, there's no way back.

Catalog β€” your custom items

At the bottom, the Catalog section lists every custom item you've created (including items added by barcode scans and recipes) and lets you select and delete the ones you no longer want. Built-in items can't be edited or deleted.
